Correspondence, chiefly letters (1905-1918) to his son, Max Tyler, with several interesting letters about his 1906 trip to the Panama Canal. Also includes his Civil War pension application, material on the Tyler family and the estate of Clara (Barnes) Tyler (1853-1883). Material on the Tyler family includes pamphlets from Tyler family reunions held in 1899 and 1900.

Born at Damascus, Penn., son of John Young and Margaret Williams Tyler. Moved to Owatonna, Minn. in 1867 and to Fargo, N.D. in 1873. Joined in a business partnership with N.K. Hubbard; they built the Headquarters Hotel in Fargo. Wed Clara Estella Barnes in 1877; she died in 1883. He served in N.D. House of Representatives in 1889 and 1895. Served as N.D. State Bank Examiner, mayor of Fargo, and was active in purchasing land for Fargo city parks. Died in Fargo and was buried at Delavan, Wis. ...
